Kingston High School is a co-education high school located in Kingston, a suburb of Greater Hobart, about 20 km south of the capital. The school is set between the picturesque Kingston Beach and kunanyi / Mt Wellington, and boast modern facilities following the construction of a new school campus in 2011.

Year 9 and 10: English, Science, Mathematics, History, Geography and Health and Physical Education, and a selection of elective subjects. (Mathematics Foundation – A Year 11 course, may be studied in Year 10 for those students who wish to extend their learning in this area)

Wellness program

Wellness is an important part of the curriculum, in all grades.

Much more than a traditional Physical Education program.

Aim for students to achieve physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing.

Wellness assists students to know how to make wise health choices for themselves, and to take some responsibility for the health of others.

 

Student Support

International Student Co-ordinator

International students are supported by the school’s International Student Co-Ordinator. The co-ordinator will help students settle into the school environment, assist students if they have any concerns, talk with students about their study pathway, and help students locate career information.

English Language Support

English as an Additional Language (EAL) support and individual assistance is provided by EAL teachers, counsellors, and teaching staff. Kingston High School is also participating in a partnership with GETI relating to an English Language Preparation Program, a six month intensive English language program to help prepare international students for year 11 and 12.

Special activities are also arranged so that international students can learn about Tasmania and also about Australian culture.
