Tasmanian Government – Personal Information Protection

GETI is part of the Tasmanian Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP). We act in line with the Personal Protection Act 2004. This prescribes how we collect, store and use personal information. We take reasonable steps to ensure that personal information is accurate and up to date.

You can access and browse our site without disclosing personal information. We will only record an individual’s email address and/or contact details if they send our site a message. The information an individual provides is collected to respond to their question.

We use Google Analytics to track website use. The data collected by Google Analytics is anonymous. We use this data to make changes that make our website more helpful. It also collects the website you visited before our website. We do not identify users or browser activity outside of our website.

We have strict technology and security policies, rules, and measures in place. These measures protect the personal information we have from unauthorised access, improper use. They also protect against unsanctioned alteration, unlawful or accidental destruction, and accidental loss.

GETI will destroy personal information where it is no longer required. The exception is if the information is required to be kept in compliance with the Archives Act 1983).

Your personal information will not be shared with other departments and authorities except if required by law.
