Tasmania is experiencing growth in the technology industries. ICT40315 Certificate IV in Web-Based Technologies is a nationally recognised qualification that will provide students with highly sought after creative, design and technical skills with building, developing and monitoring websites.
Combining the creative and technical aspects of web design and development, this course will provide graduates with a broad skillset, equipping students for a number of different careers including website assistant, digital media assistant, junior digital/web designer, website administrator and junior developer, and front end design.
There are 22 units to make up this course that have been selected in consultation with industry to reflect their needs and to ensure that graduates are prepared with the skills that employers are looking for. The skill-base you will develop in this course has been designed to be diverse enough to enable graduates to be adaptive to varying job roles in the web design industry give the best possible employability outcomes for our students.

ICT40315 Certificate IV in Web-Based Technologies comprises 22 units, packaged as 8 core (mandatory) units and 14 elective units. All units must be successfully completed to gain the qualification.

Assessments are designed to help you demonstrate your skills and knowledge. They allow us to confirm you can perform to the standard required in the workplace, to meet all of the requirements of the course.

What will I need to bring?
TasTAFE supplies the Adobe CC Suite, Internet access and hardware for learning and assessment to on-campus students. Online students are expected to supply their own Adobe CC Suite (education version) as well as their own computer/ Internet. Adobe CC Suite Education recommended retail is $28.59/month (as of Nov. 2018).
In addition, students are expected to have:
- A 4G smart mobile device for testing / prototyping
- Back up storage (memory stick or portable HD)
- Notepad / journal and pens/pencils
- Access to fast Internet with minimum 4GB/ month
IELTS 5.5 General Training (no band less than 5.0) or equivalent.
