How do I get to Tasmania?

Tasmania is Australia’s Island state. Tasmania can be reached by air or by sea. The easiest and quickest way to travel is by plane to Melbourne, and then transfer to a domestic flight to Hobart, Launceston or Devonport, depending on where you are studying.

 

What is the weather like in Tasmania?

Some people are surprised to hear that Hobart is Australia’s second driest capital city. Tasmania has a temperate climate meaning that it doesn’t get too hot or too cold. The average maximum temperature in winter is 13 degrees Celsius whilst in summer the average temperate is a comfortable 22 degrees.

When can I enrol?

International students looking to study in Tasmanian Government Schools can enrol at any time during the year. The beginning of the school year in Tasmania is the 4th of February; however international students are able to enter Tasmanian Government Schools all year round.

TasTAFE offers a number of intake dates for each of its courses providing students will flexibility in their study pathways. Generally, most TasTAFE courses have intakes in February and July. To see the intake dates of your desired course, please use the course search function on the home page.

Tasmania has an employment rate of approximately 93 per cent. It is quite common for international students to find employment whilst they are undertaking their studies.
