Public transport
Getting around Tasmania is simple and convenient. Buses are the main mode of public transport, and international students enjoy discounted fares – around AU$27 per week. For even greater savings, students can pre-pay fares using a Metro Green card.
Working
Many international students choose to work while living and studying in Australia, gaining valuable skills and confidence, improving English while meeting new people.
Jobs are usually offered on a casual basis for students, providing flexibility to balance your work and study. However, its important to prioritise your education and social life. Overworking can also impact your course progress which may have implications for your visa.
Before starting work, think carefully about how it will affect your studies and your social life. Can you find a good balance between study, work, and your social life? Remember that your main reason for being in Tasmania is to study and if your studies suffer because you are working too much, you may impact your course progress which can result in visa cancellation.
