Student services and support
International Student Advisors
International students are supported by dedicated International Student Advisors (ISA) at their schools during their study. ISA provide students with:
- advice on settling into Tasmania
- course selection
- orientation
- general school enquiries
- intervention and support if the student is at risk of not meeting program requirements
ISAs are the first point of contact if students have problems or questions.
School staff
International students can seek assistance from school staff and teachers for learning support and school activities as well as safety, health, and wellbeing. Most schools have specialist staff, including course counsellors, social workers, psychologists, and support teachers.
Emergency contact
There is an emergency contact line available 24 hours per day, 7 day per week.
Language and learning support
English support for international students is offered in class for students who require it. Many schools offer different levels of English classes to cater for diverse learning needs.
Pre-departure support
Download the Tasmanian Government Schools pre-departure guide (PDF, 7.19MB) . The guide covers flights, clothing, cost of living, shopping, transport, and other services.
Orientation
It is a requirement that all international students participate in an orientation. The orientation includes information about support and health services in the community, academic and conduct requirements of a student visa, and available assistance programs.
Facilities
Schools have modern library and computer facilities used for research and study spaces. Schools have a variety of facilities to support students including career services, design studios, canteens, common areas and fitness and health facilities.
International students will receive dedicated care and support when they choose to live and study in Tasmania.
Our support ensures every student is Known, Safe, Well and Learning every day.
