This 2-year pathway package focuses on developing students’ hands-on skills in programming, networking, cyber security, service delivery, client support and web development. Students have the choice between two options at the completion of Certificate IV; to specialise in Networking or Computer Systems Technology.
Graduates will be ready to gain employment in a variety of IT roles including: ICT Security Specialist, Security Administrator, Systems Administrator, Network Specialist, Network Support, Technology Client Support Officer. Reports into the future job market show that specialised knowledge in information technology will be in strong demand over the next 5 years (source: joboutlook.gov.au).
Certificate III in Information, Digital Media and Technology, Certificate IV in Information Technology and either the Diploma of Information Technology Networking or Advanced Diploma of Computer Systems Technology.
Pathway to University
The TasTAFE 2 year pathway provides students with the hands-on skills to compliment further studies in the field.
Successful completion of either the Diploma of Networking or the Advanced Diploma of Computer Systems Technology will give you guaranteed 1-year credit towards the Bachelor of Information Technology, at the University of Tasmania.
Note: students on a pathway to University will need to meet the English language requirements for the course; IELTS (Academic) of 6.0 (no band less than 5.5)
