The Advanced Diploma of Travel and Tourism will provide you with a large range of operational and tourism management skills relevant to your career in the tourism industry. The types of skills and knowledge gained, including sales, marketing, product development, business planning, and financial management, will be suitable for use in a range of tourism areas including retail, travel, visitor information and events.
Classes are combined with the Advanced Diploma of Hospitality
You will be required to purchase additional resources (online learning resources and excursion costs) at an additional cost of approximately AU$500.
Graduates will be able to work in any sector of the tourism industry where they will be required to analyse, design and execute decisions using wide-ranging technical, creative, conceptual and managerial skills.

Pathways to further study
(Upon successful completion of the Advanced Diploma of Travel and Tourism, you will receive advanced credit of 14 units (1.75 years) into a three-year Bachelor of Business Administration (Tourism Management) at the University of Tasmania.
Delivery is a combination of classroom-based lecture style and project-based learning
Students work in small teams to plan, develop and implement a range of tourism and hospitality products and services including special events, cooperative marketing initiatives, publications and product development support.
Projects and teams report regularly to and are mentored by a Management Panel comprised of staff and industry representatives. The Management Panel has included representatives of Tourism Tasmania, Cool Wines, Moorilla Estate and Maria Island Walks.

10 Elective Units
Assessment will include:
- Observations – observation checklists prior, during and post project implementation.
- Written tasks – to assess underpinning knowledge (may include tests, completing workplace documents, agendas and minutes, and recording information).
- Written assignments – assess ability to access information required to apply the theory to a practical, operations industry circumstance. This will often incorporate problem solving and case studies.
- Portfolio of evidence is developed by each student to collect and record evidence in workplace or Drysdale campus based activities
- Testimonials – testimonials are used where appropriate to recognise existing skills and experience and to incorporate into assessment. This strategy is often used for students who work part time in a customer service focussed business.
- Self and peer assessments – are used for reflection and learning particularly in relationship to the team work components.

Regardless of how, when or where the learning occurred, you may be eligible to apply for recognition of your skills and experience. When you apply to attend TasTAFE you can ask for recognition of:

You may also be able to apply for credit transfer for units/modules that you have completed previously at another training organisation.
It is also possible to apply for credit for TasTAFE subjects if you decide to study at university.
