While studying the Diploma of Leadership and Management you will learn about finance, operations, leadership, communication, budgeting, human resource management, and strategy development. These skills will support you to gain employment in Senior Team Leader positions where you will be in charge of managing daily business operations and a team of employees.
You will learn skills in leadership and communication, organisation of work priorities, budgeting and operational plan skills, as well as managing people.
You will experience problem-based learning scenarios contextualised for Australian businesses.
Students successfully completing this course have found employment as Senior Team Leaders and middle managers, using tactical and strategic skills to manage human and physical resources, finance and operations.

Pathways to further study
The Diploma of Leadership and Management may provide you with:
- Up to 8 units of advanced credit into a University of Tasmania 3-year Bachelor of Business Administration degree, majoring in Management or Human Resource Management.
- Up to 4 units of unspecified student elective credit only will be awarded into a University of Tasmania Bachelor of Business Degree.
This course offers a combination of theory and hands-on learning. You will work on projects within the classroom, and experience practical learning in simulated business environments. Your studies will also include working on problem-based scenarios showing issues faced by businesses.
To achieve a Diploma of Leadership and Management, 8 units must be successfully completed:

Electives may vary from region to region.
Throughout all assessments, Occupational Health & Safety procedures must be followed. Options for assessment will include:
- Problem based learning
- Workplace research and reflection
- Reports and plans
- Written assignments
- IELTS 5.5 General Training (no band less than 5.0) or equivalent.
- Applicants must be 18 years and over
- Prerequisites: It is recommended that students hold the Certificate III and IV in Business, however applicants to the Diploma may be considered with relevant study or work experience.

Regardless of how, when or where the learning occurred, you may be eligible to apply for recognition of your skills and experience. When you apply to attend TasTAFE you can ask for recognition of:

You may also be able to apply for credit transfer for units/modules that you have completed previously at another training organisation.
It is also possible to apply for credit for TasTAFE subjects if you decide to study at university.
