Becoming a registered agent

Tasmanian Government Education International team serves a single point for all marketing, recruitment, admissions and enrolment activities for Tasmanian Government Schools. 

We welcome applications from any agency interested in representing Tasmanian Government Schools and is committed to working closely with us to ensure a seamless process in recruiting and enrolling international students.

If you are interested in becoming an accredited agent, here is some useful information:

Agency checklist

As an agent for the Tasmanian Government Schools, your will be required to comply with:

  • The Australia’s Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2007 (ESOS Act)
  • The Education Services for Overseas Students Amendment (Re-registration of Providers and Other Measures) Act 2010 (ESOS Amendment Act)
  • The National Code of Practice for Registration Authorities and Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2008

We also recommend that all agents complete the education agent training course provided by Professional International Education Resources  (PIER) (external website).

Registration process

Please complete the Online Agent Registration Expression of Interest (EOI) form: study.tas.gov.au/agents/registration and submit it online.

You will be required to provide the names of referees at Australian institutions who can verify the quality of your recruitment efforts and sign a declaration which binds your company to comply withAustralia’s Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 (ESOS Act 2000), and the National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2018 (the National Code 2018).

Once your EOI is successful, you will receive an email invitation to complete the full Agent Application Form.

To be a registered education agent for TGEI, you are required to complete the Australian Education Agent Training Course. To access this course, refer to: Education Agent Training Course (EATC)

If your agency already has a prospective student who is ready to apply for the course, you can submit the application on behalf of the student.

If your Agent Application is approved, you will receive a formal Agent Agreement.

The Agent Agreement outlines responsibilities for TGEI as the education provider and your agency in complying with ESOS Act 2000 and National Code 2018. The Agent Agreement also outlines our commission policy and scenarios by which this agreement may be terminated.

We request that you read this Agent Agreement carefully and sign and return it to us within 30 days.

When your Agent Agreement has been signed and returned to us, your agency will receive an Agent Certificate by mail/email with an agent resource pack, which includes our latest course information, for your use in promoting Tasmanian Government Schools.

Your status as a representative of Tasmanian Government Schools will be renewed within three (3) years from the date when the original agreement is entered, subject to a performance review and your compliance with the ESOS Act 2000 and the National Code 2018.

Agent portal for student applications

Our student application system is StudyLink Connect. All international student applications must be submitted through StudyLink.
